“This investigation – published under Investigate Europe and Disclose’s serie #PerencoFiles – and featured in Environews DRC , reports on 167 cases of pollution by French-British Oil Giant Perenco.
This story used remote sensing and GIS techniques, sensitive field reporting and OSINT in order to establish such account of pollution. It revealed continuous gas flaring by the company near human settlements and within a Mangrove reserve. Following this publication, NGOs Sherpa and Friends of the Earth assigned Perenco to French court for “”ecological prejudice”” in DRC.
This chapter of the #PerencoFiles was suported by the Journalismfund Europe and Investigate Europe and Disclose fact-checking and editorial supports were supported by IJ4EU.”
