From 2020 to 2021, EIF investigated dozens of fracking events by French-British oil giant Perenco across the tunisian part of the Saharan desert, as well as extractive operations within protected areas including the RAMSAR site of Chott El Djerid and the National Park of Jebil. This practice still remains in a legal grey zone in the country. This project was suported by the Journalismfund Europe.
