EIF Investigations & Projects

This page features EIF’s initiated investigations, projects and environmental reporting tools developped in partnership with our network members, partners newsrooms and non-profit investigative centers and organized by areas of priorities.

“Burning Skies” is an investigative series developed by EIF in partnership with the European Investigative Collaborations network and their 12 media partners.

This investigation uncovers the hidden toll of gas flaring across Africa and the MENA region for a total of 18 countries. It notably reveals under-reported GHG emissions and health impacts of Western oil majors due to their flaring practices.

#CorporateEye tackles environmental abuses in a systemic manner and on a cross-regional scale.

Through this focus, EIF hunts for global paterns within multinationals whenever corporations  are found manipulating regulations and prioritizing profits worldwide while impacting local economies and environments.

#Fracked aims to uncover the hidden truths behind fracking, focusing on its environmental, health, and socio-economic consequences.

Through rigorous research and on-the-ground reporting, #Fracked exposes the overlooked dangers of fracking, from groundwater contamination and air pollution to the seismic activities and health crises plaguing communities near fracking sites.

From massive dams and extensive mining operations to sprawling industrial complexes and urban mega-developments, so-called “MegaProjects” can lead to deforestation, habitat destruction and widespread pollution. While such projects promise economic growth and development, they often displace populations, disrupt local economies, and exacerbate social inequalities.

EIF aims to empower investigating environmental affairs from a cross-regional perspective, using data-analytics, geo-information, remote sensing  and more.

Our approach is to develop systemic tools with a poential to be replicated across various regions of the world.
