Annonciata Byukusenge is a Multimedia journalist (Broadcast & Writing) with 12 years of experience. She holds a Bachelor in Journalism and Communication at the University of Rwanda (Ex. National University of Rwanda) and a certificate in Media Management from Women in News. She completed Course in Environment2019, Wildlife2022, Climate Change 2020 and Data Journalism in 2020, making her one of the very few data journalists in the country, investigative journalism 2021. She has worked with a number of media houses and NGOs including four Digital Media, most recently www.rwandanews24.rw; www.theforefrontmagazine.com; InfoNile as Coordinator, Mentor of Data Journalism in Rwanda and Freelancer at DALBERG MEDIA. Nominated by Pan African Climate Justice Alliance (PACJA) to attend the Fifth Session of UN Environment Assembly (UNEA-5)2021. In 2020 granted by Women In Media (WIN) as investigative journalist. Granted by Mongabay as investigative journalist 2021. She is accredited by UNFCCC to attend COP27as science journalist. Attended workshop of EAC Environmental Journalist organized by EJN/Internews in Uganda2022. A fellow of Pulitzer Center 2022 as investigative journalist, she attended Environment and climate change by Environmental Reporting Collaborative (ERC) 2022. Granted by EJN/Internews as investigative journalist Byukusenge awarded by BIOCOOR as best environmental journalist in Rwanda, 2022. United in Action Conference 2022 #AWiM2022, Morocco in December as Speaker. She attended the Wildlife Illegal Trade workshop, 2023, in Kenya, organized by TRAFFIC and AMWIK in partnership with CONNECT, WWF, KWS and IUCN. In June 2023, attended Media training about Translating scientific/technical messages and information on the Nile Basin into accurate news in a politicized environment organized by Nile Basin Initiative. July 2023, attended Women Deliver (WD) conference 2023 in Kigali, as Health Journalists. July 2023 attended Nile Well Scientists-Journalists Coproduction Fellowship in Entebbe, Uganda, organized by InfoNile.
