What is EIF ?
The Environmental Investigative Forum (EIF) was established in 2020 as global non-profit specialized in environmental investigative journalism, registered in France. Our organization works on a cross-regional scale to develop environmental investigative projects, tools and capacity building initiatives.

Our Goals & Priorities
EIF primarly works thanks to grant support based on open-calls applications for story grants and activities. We also benefit from media partners support on specific project and regularly provide remunerated capacity building support to third parties worldwide.
Environmental IJ
EIF develops in-house investigations based on the criteria of systemic reporting potential, replicability and transregionality.
We only investigate topics that, we think, have potential to be expanded on a wider geographical scale and further pursued in time.
Our investigations typically start on a small scale before developing into a larger initiative where we try to involve our media partners and network members.
Reporting tools
EIF aims to develop reporting tools to facilitate data accessibity for investigative journalists looking to uncover environmental affairs. These includes for now #MineAlertAfrica, a geo-data tool detecting mines across protected areas of the African continent, as well as our Whistletblowing platform #Environmentaleaks.
Capacity Building
EIF also comprises a network of more than 100 members based everywhere around the world. Our network members are connected through a Signal channel where they can share experiences, find work and funding opportunities, look for potential colleagues and promote their work.
EIF and its members regularly provide training sessions on environmental investigative journalism at international venues and conferences.
